Behind the Collection: Q&A with our Designer

Our latest Golden Trip Collection: The Daydream Collection // Endless Summer was dreamed up by our owner, Tiana Gamble and our designer, Cheryl Brubaker. After falling in love with the collection, we had to pick Cheryl's brain, and here is what she had to say:

What inspired this collection, and how did you choose the prints and colors?

Cheryl: The collection was really inspired by that idea of an endless summer. Long beach days, warm nights, travel, vintage surf culture, and that slightly nostalgic feeling of summers you never want to end.

I wanted the colors and prints to feel fresh and bright and pair them back to our favorite Neutral Animal Prints. There’s a vintage quality to the palette that makes everything feel relaxed, lived-in, and easy to wear. For the prints, I was drawn to graphics and patterns that felt like something you might discover on an old postcard or a vintage swimsuit.

Was there a specific place, memory, or feeling behind the designs?

Cheryl: Anywhere warm with nowhere you have to be. Saltwater hair, sun-warmed skin, a swimsuit under whatever you’re wearing.

What did you want people to feel wearing the pieces?

Cheryl: Effortless, and Confident. Basically things you can throw on, live in, travel in and make your own. The kind of clothes that instantly put you in vacation mode, even when you're not actually on vacation.

What’s your favorite piece and why?

Cheryl: Anything that comes in the Zebra print or the Cheetah!! I am a simple girl, I see Animal and I buy it!

How does this collection feel different from past Golden Trip collections?

Cheryl: We have added more details into the collection to bring in texture, like the smocking and the whip stitching! It’s been fun seeing the collection elevate each season.
